Hon. Chinedu Ogah, OON, Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has offered reasons why he openly shaved the ‘dreaded’ hair of a youth.
Ogah made the remark at his hometown, Amagu-Item, Ikwo Local Government Area, appreciating the public for reacting to the act which was “intended to correcting the youth”.
“I am a reformer who lives by example and cannot watch youths waste but seek their success.
“As a leader, it is my duty and responsibility to encourage youths and enthrone social and personal development,”.
The philanthropic lawmaker noted that he embarked on a journey of correcting youths long ago, to ultimately guide them on the rightful way of living.
“I am a reformer who encourages youths to be useful to themselves, families and
their communities.
“Anybody criticising us for reforming the youths is against the growth of the society.
“We have rules and laws in the society and if some youths start misbehaving, I should as their leader, advise them on the right path to take.
“I should lead by example and that is why I take action whenever I receive complaints of any youth misbehaving.
“We engage in guidance and counseling to transform the lives of those trying to ruin themselves, “.
He noted that the youth whose dreadlock he shaved had come with his parents to meet him in appreciation.
“They came to thank me for correcting their son and educating him on the best way to behave in being a promising son,” .
The act had drawn diverse reactions from the public with some commending it while others criticised it.
