Amaeke Ishiagu is one of the communities in Ishiagu, Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State.
During rainfall or rainy season like this farmers within the community always find it difficult to cross the river to cultivate or maintain their farm produce.
The recent high price of food produce across the nation is a bedrock upon which Amaeke women depend on, calling the public to come to their aid to enable them plant and harvest their crops to contribute towards availability of food produce to Ishiagu people at large.
The social and economic challenges posed by the Ike river is not an easy one as flood from the river always destroy plantations and farmers crops exposing a man who have labour to be a borrower at the end of the farming seasoning.
Amaeke Ishiagu has a common boundary with Ndi-Agbor in Enugu State, if the Ike river is motorable, transportation of farm produce will be easier including interstate movement from Ebonyi to Enugu State, Amaeke have the shortest link or road way to Enugu State.
Ndi-Agbor and ndi-nneochele in Enugu state will be bring their farm produce for sale in Ishiagu as we depends on each other for survival especially at this critical point of our lives.
In Ike river, there are abundant and quality sand in that river connecting from Enugu state. If the Ike river is constructed, it will create employment to some youths in Ishiagu and the rate some youths is engaging in some hard drugs and other atrocities linking to idleness will reduce as employment opportunity will be created and Government will also generate revenue.
It was stated that some natural resources were found in Amaeke Ishiagu some years back, Government should help us to develop the community.
I therefore call on the Ebonyi State Government, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON), Ivo LGA Chairman, Hon. Chief Ajah Emmanuel Ogbonna (Confirm), Echiele DC Coordinator, the leadership of ICDU led by Arc. Ajah Moses and other good spirited Son’s and Daughter’s of Ishiagu to come to the aid of Amaeke Ishiagu people.
Ike river is crying for help…..
