Members of the United Brothers Club (a.ka Internal) in their numbers, have gathered in merriment to celebrate their new headquarters at Obama Village, outskirts of Abakaliki and called on Nigerians to embrace peace for the country’s development.
The President of the social, non political club, Hon. Charles Akpuenika said that the club formed few years ago, has credible individuals from different walks of life who are united in championing the main thrust of the club: ‘One Love’.
The Immediate Past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi, said that the members have shown unbridled commitment in promoting love, peace and unity which has seen to the club’s astronomical rise within years.
“The club supports any governent in power and remains indebted to its members, particularly those who occupy various governmental positions and assisting the club in several ways.
“You can see that members are exuding confidence as they are celebrating their gathering of unity in its headquarters.”He noted that the club observed the fifth general meeting of the year at its headquarters, as it hold its meeting every two months.
“We used the opportunity of the celebration to induct new members with the charge to observe the tenets of the club, uphold its ideals and contribute to the promotion of its unity.
“We purchased two plots of land two years ago and today, it has been fenced and its headquarters steadily being constructed”.
The president commended Governor Francis Nwifuru whom he remarked was a member of the club, for his human oriented policies in the state and pledged the club’s continued support to his governent.
“We also thank the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Senator David Umahi for replicating his infrastructural strides in Ebonyi at the federal level and for giving the state, the gift of Nwifuru as a governor.
“The State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Richard Idike, a Chieftain of the club, said the occasion was a time to for members to reflect on the successes recorded so far and how to plan for a better future.
“I am happy and proud to be a member of the club and happy with the successes it has recorded so far.
“This occasion gave us the opportunity of inspecting work at our headquarters and celebrate a bountiful harvest of our agricultural and other endeavours.
“I urge the new members to uphold the tenets of unity, oneness, commitment and support to incumbent governments which are our watch words.’
The Secretary of the Club, Barr. Emeka Anosike said that the members were happy to celebrate the the gathering in its permanent site and therefore, a call to renew their commitment towards the club’s ideals.
Anosike who was a Former National Officer of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) urged members especially the new ones, to continue promoting the tenets of peace, friendliness and conviviality and ensure the growth and prosperity of the club.
The Former NBA Secretary in Ebonyi, urged members to ensure that opportunities that would benefit the club and other members are fully explored to ensure the continued progress and unity of the club.
Chief Ben Nwovu, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Event said that the club encompass es citizens from various parts of the country who are united, to forge a common cause of love and unity.
“Nwovu who is the Former President of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum said that as a son of Amagu Soil, the blessings that follow events of happiness and love would be bestowed on the club and its members.
Chief Dominic Nwibe, an Elder of the club prayed that the club would continue growing in strenght and its members prospering and succeeding beyond bounds.
Members used the occasion to merry and re-affirm their commitment towards the growth and unity of the club.
