Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state will grant state pardon to deserving convicts and other inmates across correctional facilities in the state.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Cletus Ofoke made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.
Ofoke who is also the Chairman, State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, urged concerned persons to avail themselves of the gesture.
“The state advisory council on prerogative of mercy therefore invites applications from deserving convicts and other inmates in this regard.
“The application shall be addressed to the chairman of the council and accompanied with a letter from the victim of the crime or offence or from the bereaved family (in a case of murder).
“The letter shall state that the inmate or convict has been pardoned of the offence or that concerned parties have reconciled and settled amicably.
“A verifying affidavit duly deposed to, by the victim of the offence or from the head of the bereaved family (in a case of murder) should also be included.
“The application should also be accompanied with a passport of the deponent.
Ofoke in the statement, disclosed that
all duly completed applications shall be addressed and forwarded to the council’s chairman on or before November 30, 2022.
