The Trade Union Congress Of Nigeria (TUC) Ebonyi State Council on Wednesday elected new executives amidst a peaceful exercise conducted in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The new executives include comrade Igboji Chidi (chairman), Ajah Kelechi (vice chairman), Nwogbodo Vincent (secretary), Nwokpo Samson (Asst. secretary) Igwe James Agu (Treasurer), Nwaji Sunday (Financial secretary) Chinedu Unata (P.R.O) and Eke Theodore as (Auditor) respectively.
Dr Rita-mary Okoro, head of service in the State, commended the peaceful exercise and urged the new executives to work in synergy with the government.
While congratulating the new executives, the special assistant to the State Governor on labor matters, comrade Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, said the government would continue to address workers’ challenges in the state to enhance their welfare.
“The workers can attest that their 2019/2020 promotion has been implemented, the Governor has also approved for conversion of those that are due,
“most of their challenges have been addressed, they should be calm as we continue to work towards enhancing their welfare”. Nwafor said.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Igboji Chidi said he would prioritize his member’s welfare and ensure that every one is carried along.
He commended the electoral committee for the peaceful exercise as well as the decision of members to elect him as chairman, and pledged to deliver good leadership.
The new treasurer of the council, comrade James Agu, equally promised to work with other members to ensure the progress of the union and commended their peaceful nature in the state.
