Sen Anyim, Nnachi, Ogba, Anyichuks pay tribute to Dr. Gideon Osi’s late Mother

Former President of the Nigerian senate, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Michael Ama Nnachi as well as Senator Obinna Joseph Ogba, who is representing Ebonyi central senatorial District, and the Gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii among other dignitaries have paid tribute to Dr. Gideon Osi’s late mother.

Mrs. Rebecca Oyiridie Osi died peacefully on the 22nd, Feb 2022 at the age of 82 years old, and was laid to rest on Friday, 11 Nov 2022 at her Country home, Ezinne memorial estate, umuogboke Amaeze in Ishiagu local government area of Ebonyi State.

Anyim, in his message, told the family of the late matriarch to be consoled by her exemplary lifestyle which is worthy of emulation, he noted her various contributions to humanity as a leader and philanthropist.

“Our consolation rests on the fact that Mrs. Rebecca Oyiridie Osi was fulfilled in life and was a great source of inspiration to many”. Anyim said.

On his part, Senator Nnachi noted that she was a devout Christian who served God and humanity, he recalled how the late matriarch impacted the lives of many people in her Community before her demise.

“She will be remembered as a devout Christian, a talented potter, a community leader, a virtues woman whose legacies of good services to humanity cannot be forgotten in a hurry”. Nnachi said.

Senator Ogba, who maintained that the late matriarch had lived a fulfilled life and left legacies that would stand the test of time, urged the family to be consoled with the memories of her good works.

“Mama no doubt lived a fulfilled life and left many indelible marks on the sand of time. Her wise counsel and affection will be greatly missed by family, the church, and indeed the good people of Amaeze Ishiagu”. Ogba stated.

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii (AnyiChuks) who joined others to pay tribute to the late matriarch, pointed out;

“Given her exceptional dedication to Christianity, mobilization, and being a great potter, it is undeniable how much she will further be missed for her honesty, simplicity, and sincerity amongst many other remarkable traits”.

On his part, Dr Gideon Osi described his late Mother as an embodiment of good character who lived a selfless community life

He said: ‘Mama was an embodiment of good character expected of an African woman of her time. Respectful, dutiful, hardworking, devout Christian, Catholic mother of exemplary status and selfless in her endeavors.

“Her dedication and services to humanity earned her several recognitions including the “Ezinne Di Ora Mma” title conferred on her by the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) of St. James Catholic Church, Amaze, Ishiagu”.

” She was also a highly celebrated singer and dancer of her time which led to her being among the founding members and leader of the famous Idu Dance Group of the Amaeze community”.

“Ezinne Oyiridie Osi lived a selfless community life. She was a point of reference for so many who wished for a peaceful home or a contented woman. She was an achronic and fabulous giver whose generosity was to everyone including those that had maltreated her in one way or the other. For nwanyi china – only God can judge”

The funeral ceremony was well attended by notable politicians such as the Member Representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal Constituency, Hon Livinus Makwe, the member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency, Hon. Anayo Edwin, the Southeast National Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ali Odefa, the deputy speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Obasi Odefa, Ebonyi State PDP Chairman, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie.

Also in attendance were the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi State, Prof Ifeanyi Bernard Odoh, the former council chairman of Onicha local government area, Engr Felix Igboke, others include Nollywood celebrity Actor, Kanayo O Kanaya, Zuby Micheal, Faze amongst many who came to pay tribute to the late Mrs Rebecca Oyiridie Osi.
