The Ebonyi state government has re-affirmed its decision to grant the Labour Party (LP) access to the Pa Ngele Oruta stadium, Abakaliki for its presidential rally on Friday.
The state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Charlse Akpu Enika gave the indication on Thursday in an interview.
Akpu Enika said that though the party could not organise the rally in the state when the stadium was earlier released to it, Gov. David Umahi still granted it access to the facility again.
“The access is at no cost as was the case when it was earlier granted to the party.
“This shows that the governor plays ‘politics without bitterness’ and has a ‘large heart’.
“This also lends credence to Umahi’s stance that he is the father of all in the state,”
He described the governor as a history breaker being the first helmsman since 1999 to allow the opposition use the stadium for its activities.
“This should make the opposition reciprocate his friendliness and cease the unwarranted aspersions cast on him.
“It is a fact that he has changed the state’s narratives and presently needs positive criticism to enhance governance.
