The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ebonyi has charged civil servants in the state to support the realisation of Gov. Francis Nwifuru’s ‘People’s Charter of Needs Agenda’ for sustainable development.
The state Director of the agency, Mr Mathew Odono, gave the charge on Monday in Ezzangbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area during the sensitisation of the council workers on the need to achieve a new Nigeria.
Odono also advised the citizens, especially the workers, to support and key into the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
He emphasised the need for more dedication to the service of educating and enlighting the public on government’s policies and programmes.
The Director also urged the people to shun crisis and embrace peace in the country, arguing that no meaningful development can occur in an atmosphere of rancour.
Odono said: ”There must be peace in the land.
“We must embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government and People’s Charter of Needs Agenda of Ebonyi Government.
”Being patriotic can do us more good. Love to our father land.
“We must build and instill certain values in our daily lives as citizens, such as integrity, patriotism, discipline, tolerance and oneness towards building a new Nigeria.
”The time has come for us to have a new Nigeria and new Ebonyi.
“There is hope for Nigeria because Tinubu is trying to reposition the country and we must give him time.
”The Ebonyi Government under Nwifuru is already sanitising the system.”
He said that the eight years unpaid gratuities of the retirees by the previous government had been cleared.
”The governor has empowered many indegenes, who have been hawking in major streets of other states of the federation.
”So, time has come to renew our hope and Nigeria and Ebonyi will work again,” the NOA boss said.
Also, the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Mr Ikechukwu Odono, commended NOA’s team for embarking on the campaign toward ensuring that the policies and programmes of the government succeeded.
Odono pledged the council’s support for NOA’s activities in the area and called all hands to be on deck to move the nation and Ebonyi forward.
A council worker, Mr Chikezie Nwafor, described the importance of the local government system to nation building and called for an overhaul of the system.
”Council workers face a lot of challenges, ranging from dilapidated structures and the lack of working tools.
”We hope that the present administrations at the state and federal levels will handle some of these challenges,” Nwafor said.
