NGO tasks political leaders on programme capable of promoting peace, unity of citizens

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Onicha Progressive Mandate (OPM) has urged the political leaders at all levels of government to embrace programmes aiming at promoting the peace and unity of the people across states of the federation.

The President of the OPM in Ebonyi, Mr Vincent Nwachukwu gave the advice at the inauguration ceremony of its executives in Abakaliki on Friday.



Nwachukwu, Founder of the NGO, noted that development could only assured in the atmosphere of peace, oneness and security.

On the NGO, he explained that it existence revolves within the indigenes of Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi.

Nwachukwu explained that the body would focus on identifying with good leaders in the area, who believes in positive development of his people as well as enhancing their livelihood.


Such positive development shall include, quality education for the people, infrastructural projects, road networks, security and most importantly unity of purpose.

“We should avoid hate speeches, and all other activities that are capable of jeopardizing the peaceful coexistence of citizens of Onicha Council in Ebonyi and Nation at large,” he implored.

The President further explained that inaguration of the executives, was part of their activities to set the organisation working for the interest of its people in diaspora.

It reports that the new executives include: Mr Vincent Nwachukwu, President, Orogwu Omekannaya, Deputy President, Oshim Phinidy David, Secretary.

Others are Akpa Nelson, Treasurer, Christian Nwali, Provost, Chukwu Friday, Organizing Secretary, Echofe Williams, Asstant Publicity Secretary, Emeka Nwosu, Legal adviser amongst others.

Let me once again commend the State Governor, David Umahi for his developmental strides in the State,” he added.

Also speaking, Dr Francis Ikele, President of Ukawu town union in Onicha Local Government Area of the state, described the group as good towards championing of development in the area.

Ikele advised the new executives to support and vote for leaders, who would bring developmental programs for the people, especially at the 2023 general elections.

Mr Stanley Emeka, a candidate of Action Alliance Party (AAP), for Onicha west State Constituency, Ebonyi House Assembly added that the establishing the body a welcome development to the people
