A founding member of Edda Identity Socio Cultural Group and Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Prince Prosper Ekumankama, Friday stated that the group never held a meeting and resolved to caution Governor David Umahi on comments he made regarding tomorrow’s election.
Disclosing this in a statement, Ekumankama called on the general public to disregard Vanguard 16th publication, titled “Stop making inciting statements, group cautions Umahi”, among others as they do not represent the views and resolutions of Edda Identity Socio Cultural Group in the State.
According to the statement “I am a founding member of Edda Identity Socio cultural group. This group was formed on 18th March 2020 on WhatsApp by Mr Ikenna Emewu as the Chief Admin, myself and one other person as Group Admins to address some political crisis in Edda.
“We ve been having series of fruitful and peaceful meetings and deliberations on that platform not until a lot of political interests came up. I was first of all removed as an Admin because I raised alarm on how some PDP members hijacked the platform for their party’s interest.
“I have been severally removed from the platform because I stood against the mismanagement of the platform. I want to inform the general public that there was never a time in Edda Identity Platform that we had a meeting or agreed on any Press Release to caution the Governor on March 18th Guber election or any other publications against the government coming from this group.
“Edda Identity is a none political group and should not be roped into any personal quarrels between anybody or group and the Governor.
“How can a group where distinguished personalities like Honorable Minister of State for Health, Hon Barr. Joseph Ekumankama, Distinguished Senator Sunny Ogbuoji, Rt Hon Blaise Eze Oji, Hon Prince Sunny Ugwuocha, Hon Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, Hon Prince Chima Ekumankama and so many well meaning Edda sons and daughters, who has always preached the good works of Governor Umahi endorse this kind of ill birthed post against the Governor.
“I wish to beg the media house, especially the print media and social media to always verify most of the publications they make on the socio cultural group, so as not to misrepresent the general opinion of the group.”
