Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Marymaudline Nwifuru, has assured full implementation of affirmative action for women in the state.
Nwifuru made the assertion on Thursday, during courtesy calls on her by the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Ebonyi Branch, and members of Onwa Oferekpe Women Foundation in the state.
The governor’s wife, while commending the women for identifying with the administration, described women as promoters of good governance and development of any society.
She urged members of the women’s society to maintain the existing unity among them for development of the state.
She, however, approved the inauguration of the Local Government Area chapters of the society, geared towards lifting Ebonyi women to greater heights.
She advised the group not to distance itself from the administration.
She further commended members of Onwa Oferekpe women foundation for their supports and contributions towards their victory at the poll.
“Onwa Oferekpe women are hard working folks with capacity,” Nwifuru said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Chinyelu Udoku, President of the women society, pledged their support and readiness to collaborate with all government policies.
Mrs Stella Nwagu, the National President of the foundation, appreciated the governor’s wife and her husband, Gov. Francis Nwifuru, for the numerous appointment of women in the state.
Nwagu pledged that the group will continually support the administration.
She said that the foundation had worked hard to ensure the emergence of the governor during the general elections.
“We are here to show solidarity and our continuous support to the administration,” Nwagu said.
