A Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chief Okey Oti, popularly known as O’ Squared has given details of how he escaped death from heavily armed political thugs working for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship candidate in Ebonyi State.
In a telephone interview from his hideout, Oti who is the Local Government Collation Agent for the Party in Afikpo North said thugs numbering over 50 and led by the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Mr. Uchenna Ibiam snatched his two phones while trying to snap some altered figures in the results collated from the Polling Units and being transferred into the Ward Collation Centre result sheets at the Council headquarters.
According to him, “APC thugs attacked me at the Local Government Area just this night. It was a rough experience and they have taken my phones. They are rigging the elections up and down and the woman who is now in charge of the Local Government (the Electoral Officer) started shouting that this is not how Collation is done. She said Local Government Chairman with your boys, this is not good, this is not how Collation is done.
I came in there and looked and then I took picture. Somebody saw me and attacked me and many of them descended on me”.
Meantime, reports from our Party’s Collation Agents at the various LGAs say the armed political thugs continued shooting in Afikpo North and most parts of Ebonyi South till early morning hours, altering figures that were unfavourable to them from the Polling Units which were about to be entered into the Ward Collation Results sheets.
