The leadership of independent media practitioners in Ebonyi State has applauded Governor Francis Nwifuru over the creation of additional communities in the state.
The group, through their chairman, Solomon Okorie, made their feelings known in a press release and made it available to newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital. Recall, Oferekpe Agbaja was one of the ten communities that was created by the present administration under Governor Nwifuru.
The group noted that the numerous significant projects of the present administration resonate on many fronts. The autonomy given to the Agbaja community transcends gerrymandering or any form of creation for political manipulation.
The antecedents of the Governor of Francis Nwifuru on autonomy are clear and simple. Since the assumption of duty has severely confessed his passion for autonomy as a catalyst for development.
The press release reads in parts:
“The recent coronation of Eze Ezekiel Nwifuru is a deserved paradigm whose time has come. It is a wake-up call for communities seeking autonomy to rise to the occasion and for leadership to be vested in personalities that command the loyalty of the majority of the people.
“Eze Ezekiel Nwifuru’s coronation provided the community’s long walk to autonomy and self-rule.
“Communities in Igboland in recent times, particularly those who felt their development was hindered, take advantage of this policy of autonomy to redefine their destinies, as it enables them to prioritize their development rather than criticizing the well-deserved kingship of Eze Ezekiel Nwifuru.
“The coronation provided an opportunity for kith and kin to celebrate the rave of the moment. However, of note is the wide spectrum of Eze Ezekiel’s influence.
“Agbaja’s by 2021 Census is populated by 488,111. Eze’s direct relatives by anthropological matrix are estimated to be above 5,000 members of the community.
This status stemming from his marital status by some standards makes him the highest stakeholder.
“Judging from his marriage to nineteen women, 108 children, etc., this makes a substantial number of his subjects.
