Ex-Lawmaker Felicitates With Izzi Clan On New Yam Festival, Hail Gov Nwifuru’s Impactful Leadership

Hon. Sunday Nwibo Ukpata, a former lawmaker who represented Osopong Ward 2, Obubra LGA in Cross River State between 2013 to 2016, has felicitated with the people of the Izzi clan on the grand finale of the celebration of the new yam festival.

Hon. Ukpata also commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s impactful leadership style, which, according to him, has brought peace, unity, and development to the Izzi clan and the entire Ebonyi State.

In his goodwill message, he noted the celebration as an age-long tradition that has been in existence for several years, which the people observe in honor of the new yam, regarded as the king of all crops.

“Ojiji new yam festival is our cultural heritage, which we celebrate from generation to generation in the whole of the Izzi clan. It is celebrated in order to enable us to welcome our new yam, which is the king of our crops in Izzi land, respectively.

“It is the greatest feast in our land; it brings joy, oneness, fosters unity, exchanges gifts from one place to another, and togetherness among Umu Ekumenyi within and in diaspora. I use this opportunity to say a big congratulations to all our brothers and sisters in Izzi nation.

“To our own brother and Governor, His Excellency Sir, the wonder-working Governor of Ebonyi State, the epitome of wisdom, I am overwhelmed with your administration; within one year in your office, you have made Ebonyi State the most peaceful state in the whole country.

“You have equally brought the stakeholders in Ebonyi State under one umbrella; God almighty will protect, preserve, and bless you and your entire family in Jesus name.

“And the traditional prime minister of the Izzi clan (Izzhi Uke), His Royal Majesty, Chief Mbam Ngele Ogharu, for the forthcoming grand finale of our New Year festival, which is slated to hold on this coming Saturday, August 31st, 2024, at the Izzi Nnodo ancestral home, Amagu community.” He added.
