The media team of the Labour party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr Peter Obi and its Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi, Arc. Edward Nkwegu (Edon) has said that the latter’s political structure is still intact since 2015.

The group in a statement it issued after its emergency meeting in Abakaliki, said that Nkwegu remained
a credible alternative and an Industrialist who will revamp the Ebonyi economy and make it viable.

The statement which was signed by its National President, Mr James Nnachi, expressed gratitude to God for Nkwegu’s victory at the party’s gubernatorial substitution primary.

“The primary was duly conducted in Abakaliki by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the party’s national leadership.

“We therefore wish to thank them, the security agencies among other stakeholders for ensuring a hitch free exercise.

“We want to declare that Nkwegu is humble, peaceful and God fearing.

“His political structure is still intact since 2015 and is aggressively prepared for the 2023 elections,” the statement read.

The group called on all party supporters not to be discouraged over a federal high court”s ruling as Nkwegu’s candidacy.

“The party and INEC have acknowledged the outcome of the primary and Nkwegu’s candidacy.

“It is part of party politics and it should be remembered that for a man to achieve success in life, he must meet a stumbling block.

“We shall however win at the end as a support for Edon is a support for a better Ebonyi state.

“He is the best candidate amongst all and has full support and goodwill of the people” the statement read.
