The pioneer councilors forum in Ebonyi state, a group made of individuals who served at the ward legislative council between the year 1999 to 2002 have pass a vote of confidence in Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his performance over the past few month of his administration.
The group equally used the opportunity to make a passionate appeal to Governor Nwifuru to continue with his good policies of ensuring the welfare of his people, and further sought him to look into their plight and give a directive for the payment of their severance allowance which has been long overdue.
Addressing journalists in Abakaliki the state capital during a meeting with his members, the chairman of the forum, Hon. Maxwell Nwali who moved the motion to pass a vote of confidence in Governor Nwifuru said it was based on his people oriented policies which have made positive impact in the state and believed that it would spur him to do more.
“Having enumerated all the achievements of the Governor in the past seven months of his administration, i, on behalf of the pioneer councilors forum, hereby move a motion that a vote of confidence be passed on the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State”. He said.
Hon. Felix Okoro, a member from Umuchima ward in Ohoazara Local Government Area of the state seconded the motion as other members adopted it.
While commending the Governor for the approval of the payment of backlogs of pension and gratuities of civil servants who retired between 1996 to 2021, the chairman, who called on the attention of the Governor on the non payment of their severance allowance appeald for him to look into their plight.
“We are particularly privileged to make a plea to our dear Governor, to continue on the paths he has started with, he has created a welfarian government where human needs matters.
“He has already said it that he would be dealing on both physical and human infrastructure, and that is exactly what he is currently doing, and we want him to continue.
“We also plead with the Governor to look at the issues that concerns the pioneer councilors of Ebonyi State, 1999-2002, because these are really the set that laid the foundation of democracy in Ebonyi state.
“Since they’ve so labored, let them be remembered again, we happened to be among the people he has approved for their pensions to be paid, from 1996 to 2021, our severance is our kwown gratuity, we thank him for the approval and appeal to him to extend his directives to the people in charge to please pay us”. He added.
