Barrister Mudi Erehnede, the Legal Adviser of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has lauded President Muhammad Buhari’s cashless policy to curb election malpractice in the country
Mudi who spoke with Journalists at his polling unit, Ohaisu ward A, 002 in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State noted the electoral process as being transparent, free, fair, and void of vote buying due to the cashless policy introduced by the president before the general elections.
“Comparatively in the sense of previous elections, I would say the exercise has been going on very well, especially as a result of the cashless policy.
“Incidents of vote buying are almost none existent, it’s not 1hundred percent perfect but so far, I can say it has been transparent”,” he said.
However, he noted the challenges faced by the Adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the use of the BVAS machine noting perhaps their training was not comprehensive.
He expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious by producing the next president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as well as delivering all PDP candidates contesting the election.
Also speaking, professor Henry Irouchukwu, assessed the election as the best thus far due to its peaceful conduct void of thuggery and commended the cashless policy.
“For me, I know people have gone through difficulty trying to access their funds but the benefits far out weight the stress if we can do this and give everybody a level playing ground for everybody and there’s fairness in conducting elections in Nigeria, people would come out and vote and anybody who wins has the people’s Mandate,” he added.
