The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has inaugurated the Elders council given the party’s local government rallies and other campaign activities.
Members have equally expressed confidence that PDP would emerge victorious at the 2023 general elections and reclaim power in the State.
The members of the Elders Council include Pharmacist Nwiboko Keneth Oyemaechi, Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu, Chief Agu Okpani, Hon. Hilary Egwu, Chief Anthony Nwankwegu, Chief Godwin Nwode.
Others include Barr. Felix Mgbada, Hon. Samuel Mgbada, Sir Kevin Nwankwo, Chief Oliver N. U. Eze Mr. Davidson Nwali, Engr. Princewill Oke, Chief Monday Okoro, Hon Evang Okereke Chrismonk, Hon. Paul Ogbonna.
Also included are Chief Boniface Ofoke, Hon. Moses Nwobegu, Prof.Sunday N. Agwu, Dr. Obasi Ekwe, Chief Hon Chijioke Igwe Uwa, Chief John Igboke, and Chief Emmanuel Ugbala.
The Gubernatorial Candidate of the party, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii (AnyiChuks) who was represented at the event by his deputy governorship candidate, Senator Paulinus Nwagu charged them to see their nominations as a call to service.
Members of the council who were drawn across the 13 Local Government Areas and Abakaliki Urban, are saddled with the responsibility of providing technical support as well as guidance to the party leaders and members on the best strategy for winning the guber elections in Ebonyi.
Odii pointed out clearly that the gubernatorial position has gone around the 3 senatorial zones in the State, thus, providing a level playing ground for candidates from any of the zones to apply for the position, and assured members of the PDP in Ebonyi that party leaders would ensure they are protected.
“The governorship seat of the state has gone round the three senatorial districts of the state and can now start from anywhere.
“Leaders of the PDP shall ensure the safety and protection of all members and supporters of the party in the state”. He said while maintaining that the party is determined to reclaim power come 2023.
In his remarks, the Director General of the ANYI G’EMEYA Campaign Council, Chief Augustine Igwe Edeze, said he has no doubt the PDP is positioned to win the number one seat in the State.
He reiterated his commitment to work towards the victory of the AnyiChuks/Nwagu team irrespective of backlashes from people with a clannish mentality who expected him to do otherwise.
“We are ready and committed to the job until victory is achieved because it is evident that the will and hand of God are upon the PDP in Ebonyi State”. he added.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Elders Council who is a former Acting National Secretary of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onwe S. Onwe assured the party that he was encouraged by the caliber of members of the council and “assured that the confidence reposed in them will not be regretted by the party.
