The Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) Ebonyi State Council has called on the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as the President-elect, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Governor David Umahi for the position of Senate President.
Governor Umahi emerged as the senator-elect for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District at the just concluded presidential and national assembly Elections.
In a communique issued by the State Executive Committee, In Abakaliki on Sunday, it noted the strength and character Umahi possesses which invariably stands him out as well as said his Senate Presidency would appease the southeast and the Christian communities who are already apprehensive over Muslim Muslim ticket.
“SEC congratulates the National Assembly Members-elect from Ebonyi State, particularly the Senator-elect for Ebonyi South Senatorial zone, and Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Umahi on their victory in the February, 25th, 2023 Polls.
“SEC describes Governor David Umahi’s victory as well-deserved and calls on the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President-elect, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider him for the position of the President of the Senate.
” SEC notes that apart from his strength of character, commitment, and penchant for uncommon development and legendary transformation of Ebonyi State in the past eight years as Governor,
“his emergence as the Senate President will assuage both the South East geopolitical zone and the Christian community in the country who are already apprehensive of a Muslim-Muslim presidency” it stated.
