The Coordinator of Amoha Development Centre in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon. Kenneth Obasi, has showcased his achievements of service to his people and lauds Governor Francis Nwifuru as a mentor.
Obasi, while disclosing to journalists, pointed to his performance index in the areas of infrastructure and security as well as human development and welfare, citing Governor Nwifuru’s “people’s charter of needs agenda” as an inspiration.
On infrastructure, Obasi said that he has successfully reconstructed the Development Centre building and embarked on rural electrification as well as the construction of a new police post and tarred roads.
“When I commenced work as Amoha DC coordinator, the day I came here, I met this place completely messed up, abandoned and vandalised in such a way that I didn’t know where to start; there was no single iron left here by unknown hoodlums.
“I met workers staying under the rain, so I built the pavilion as a temporary space until we started the rebuilding process. Over 26 offices, 67 windows, and ceilings have been worked on.
“I’ve embarked on electrification from Aphoha to Ibi; over the years there was no electricity there. We are in line with the governor’s people’s charter of needs agenda; the project is seriously ongoing, almost to completion.” He said
Obasi also noted the renovation of boreholes, the literated roads and the creation of some roads where they were bad in Aphoha.
On security, apart from the construction of the new police post, the development centre coordinator has affirmed the empowerment of
over forty youths into the Nigerian Hunters guard, which has formed part of the security in Amoha.
“I have tried to maintain peace in Amoha communities because there was no peace and unity before I came. I have deployed security to ensure the safety of government properties in schools and hospitals.
“There used to be Aphoha day before, but when there was a split among them, the Amata and Amogu were having it differently, but I decided to follow the footsteps of our governor, who is a peace-loving governor, and as it stands today, there is unity and peace.” Obasi was assured.
On social welfare: according to him;
“Over seventy youths have been empowered financially to support their businesses in different endeavours with the sum of 100, 200 thousand naira and above, and the people are happy.
“I have engaged in payment of NEPA bills from December last year till date in Amoha to ensure peace, and people are happy. I registered 30 students during the WAEC and 15 for NECO.
“I have also organised and celebrated both Amata and Omogu, which empowered 45 elders and widows; this has never happened before in Aphoha. I have distributed Christmas palliatives.” He added.
