Ahead of the march gubernatorial elections, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii has said if elected, he would empower the youths positively rather than equipping them with arms.
Odii stated this on Saturday, during his LG campaign rally in the IKwo local government area of the State, while soliciting their votes with a promise to end all forms of communal clashes in Ebonyi.
“You can only give what you have, you cannot give what you don’t have, God has blessed us with good land, our forefathers farmed and survived there.
“Therefore, it’s not expected that farmers should be hungry, and vote for AnyiChuks to end every communal clash, I will not teach our youths how to carry arms but to empower them.
“My government would employ the highest youths in Nigeria, I’m saying it because it’s what I know how to do,” he said.
He urged them to use their PVCs wisely by voting for credible candidates that would prioritize their interests.
Wife of the guber candidate, Mrs. Deborah Ebele Odii, said her husband would replicate his successes in business and bring positive change to the state by empowering the youths with job opportunities.
She assured the women that the administration if elected, would accommodate women in the cabinet as well as ensure gender balance in the administration.
Ifeanyi Nworie, the acting party chairman, earlier described Odii’s candidacy as historic, noting that PDP has a stronghold in IKwo LGA which has produced a governor and deputy among others respectively.
He enjoined the teeming supporters to vote for PDP at all levels, adding “We will not disappoint you.” Nworie implored.
Austin Edeze, the campaign council DG noted the various philanthropic contributions of the guber candidate to the people of IKwo LGA and appealed to their conscience to vote for PDP.
The women leader, Mrs. Amaka Igboke, called on the women to come out en mass on election day to deliver all PDP candidates from top to bottom.
