Erstwhile gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Senator Obinna Joseph Ogba says he has forgiven anyone who betrayed him one way or the other, while in his quest to clinch the party’s guber ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Senator Ogba had been in a legal tussle with the Ebonyi PDP gubernatorial Candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, over the PDP gubernatorial ticket, following double primary elections conducted which produced the dual Candidates.
On the 21st of October 2022, however, the supreme court gave its final judgment on the matter and declared Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as the authentic gubernatorial candidate.
According to Ogba, who stated in a press conference held in his campaign office, Saturday, in Abakaliki, said even though the outcome of the judgment did not favor him and his supporters, he would remain grateful to God and maintain his stand with the PDP.
“On 21 October 2022, the supreme court gave a final judgment on the lingering matter emanating from the outcome of the 2022 PDP guber primary in Ebonyi State.
“The outcome of the judgment may not be what we wanted, and I’m sorry that we did not win this legal tussle, for the value we shared, and the vision we had for Ebonyi State and Ebonyians.
“I have forgiven those who in any way or manner, willingly betrayed a just cause, lessons have been learned, more knowledge acquired”. he said.
He reiterated his confidence in the Nigerian judiciary while commending his supporters, national, zonal, State, and wards Executives of the party for their various shows of solidarity throughout his ordeal.
The senator, emphatically maintained that he would continue to remain in the PDP and work for the interest of the party at the 2023 general elections.
“All things work together for good to those that love God, Ebonyi State shall be happy again”. he added.
