As workers across Nigeria celebrate the 2025 Workers’ Day, leading entrepreneur and former PDP governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has called for a renewed focus on creating job opportunities and improving the dignity of labour in the state.
In a Workers’ Day message addressed to the Labour Union, Trade Union Organisations, and the entire Ebonyi workforce, Dr. Odii expressed deep admiration for the hardworking men and women who keep the state’s economy running.
“Workers’ Day is not just a date on the calendar. It is a tribute to your sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering commitment to service,” he said.
Speaking as both a private sector leader and public-spirited citizen, Dr. Odii noted that every society’s strength is measured by the conditions of its workers and their ability to live meaningful lives.
“Our collective future depends on a productive workforce willing and able to work,” he said. “From the farms to the factories, classrooms to clinics, offices to construction sites—your labour powers development and drives dreams.”
He went on to highlight his vision of an Ebonyi where every citizen who desires to work can find decent employment and contribute meaningfully to state development.
“I look forward to a time when there will be jobs for any Ebonyian who wants to work. I remain resolute in my commitment to a better Ebonyi—one that is excellent, inclusive, and filled with unlimited possibilities,” he stated.
Dr. Odii also reaffirmed his belief in a just system where effort is rewarded and no citizen is left behind.
The founder of one of Nigeria’s notable business conglomerates, Dr. Odii has become widely recognized for his philanthropic initiatives, job creation efforts, and investments in youth and community empowerment.
He concluded his message with an uplifting note: “Let us keep moving forward—together. Happy Workers’ Day, and may your labour always yield fruit.”
