Governor David Umahi has charged Corps members deployed to Ebonyi state to be diligent and transparent in discharging electoral duties ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Umahi gave the charge at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 batch A stream 1 Corps members, in an event that was held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent site, Old McGregor college in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State.

“The 2023 general election is around the corner, as true Nigerians who will be part and parcel of the conduct of the election, I urge you to discharge your electoral duties with diligence, transparency,
“Eschew all forms of electoral malpractices above all be neutral as agents of change. Posterity will surely reward you for your labor of love
to the nation”. Umahi said.
Our correspondent reports that a total of 680 Corps members, made of 318 males, and 362 females were inducted for the orientation exercise as declared open by the Governor.
While congratulating them for the successful completion of their academic pursuits, he commended their patriotic response to serve in the State.
“I warmly welcome you to the salt of the nation-State Ebonyi, where hospitality reigns supreme”.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for youth and sports, Hon. Charles Akpu-Enika commended the NYSC and noted it has attained remarkable milestones in its mandate of national unity, integration, and national development over the years.

“I may not, therefore, be wrong if l say that it remains a true symbol of unity, bringing together young Nigerians from various institutions, cultures, and backgrounds and deploying them for service to the fatherland”. he added.
Earlier in her remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Bamai Mercy had urged them to participate in all camp activities, noting that it was packaged to instill the discipline and self-reliance needed for them to face life’s challenges.
“It is on this note that I urge you to take every aspect of the orientation course seriously“. she said.
She commended Governor Umahi for his numerous support to the NYSC in the State, “, especially in the area of renovation of camp infrastructures, installation, and maintenance of the street lights among others”. she added.
