Community health workers to engage rural dwellers on health talk in Ebonyi

The National Association of Community Health Practitioners, Ebonyi State chapter, says it would engage rural dwellers on health matters and sensitize them to prevent common diseases such as malaria among others.


The chairman of the association, Princess Chibueze Chetachi gave the hint in Abakaliki at the election as well as inauguration of it’s new executives.


Chetachi said the association’s aim is to ensure that members of the public are given adequate information on disease prevention as it would go along way to save lives and ensure a healthy society.




“We work at the grassroot level, and we will continue to engage the people through our health talk programs to educate them occasionally to give them update on health matters,


“There are things they will need to know in order to prevent malaria and other minor illness, our target would be to engage the rural dwellers through seminars to enable them know what they need to do at thier level to maintain a healthy society“. she said.


She explained that the leadership would ensure that every community health practitioner adheres to the ethics of the profession and urged members to cooperate with the new executives.


It reports that Princess Chibueze Chetachi is the chairman, Nwakpa Chioma Joy the first vice chairman, as well as Nwali Benson Oduma, the second vice chairman, and Nwokike Ndukwe is the secretary respectively.


Others are, Ogwu Samson, Assistant secretary, Okah Emmanuel, Treasurer, Elemi Okechukwu, Publicity Secretary and Nwakpa Cletus, the Auditor.




Also speaking, the chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the State, Comrade Chidi Igboji, described the election as peaceful, transparent, and urged the elected officials to represent the people who chosed them to ensure thier welfare is protected.


Mr Nwakpuma Steven, the Provost, Ebonyi State college of health Ezzamgbo, reemphasized on the need for health workers to ensure professionalism in discharging thier duties.
