The Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state, Prince Chinedu Uburu has offset the hospital bills of an indigent patient, Mrs Mercy Mbam which she couldn’t offset and has accrued for over one year.
Mbam, from Ojiegbe-Ishieke in the council, was thus re-united with his family after being abandoned at Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA) due to her inability to pay the bills amounting to thousands of naira.
She had been staying at the hospital with her only child of about 5yrs as a result of the multiple fractures, sustained in a motor accident.
Mbam due to her inability to pay the bills was trapped for more than five extra months at the hospital after being discharged.
The chairman was moved to pity after reading a Facebook post by one Cyprian Mgbebu on the woman’s condition, soliciting assistance from public-spirited individuals.
The chairman moved from the spirit, stormed the patients ward of the hospital in search of the woman who was jittery on seeing the August guest.
She never knew that her messiah was in the guest she was seeing as he
only asked her few personally questions and moved on.
He asked the nurse on duty to prepare the woman’s complete bill which she did immediately and he offset the whole.
The chairman still handed over a whooping, undisclosed amount of money to the woman for her transportation and upkeep and asked her to contact him any time she and her daughter lack any thing.
The woman has been discharged by the hospital’s management and the infinite prayer is that God should replenish the chairman’s pocket and lift him beyond imagination.
