The members of Abakaliki Rice Millers Association have commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, R.t Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his quick intervention in restoring peace in the company.
Correspondent reports that the rice mill company, hitherto was thrown into crisis following the enforcement against alleged fraudulent activities by members of the task force on some of its members who are involved in using non-approved bags.
The chairman of the company, Comrade Linus Obeji who gave the commendations while interacting with journalists in Abakaliki thanked Governor Nwifuru for always standing on the side of fairness, truth, and justice.
“We are appreciating His Excellency Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his immediate intervention in issues concerning the rice mill.
“The Governor is the architect of the current peace we are enjoying in Abakaliki rice mill, since he obtained the ticket of APC all the warring interests came together and endorsed him and we all worked for him.
“We are using this opportunity to appreciate him for his quick intervention in Abakaliki rice mill issues that engendered his support to our leadership and in improving the fight against the long-decayed system”. he said.
Obeji noted the Governor’s intervention in other areas of the State affected by communal crisis and commend him for setting up committees to restore peace in those areas.
“It is not only in Abakaliki rice mill that he has engendered such peace but he has extended that in all the state, by setting up peace committees to restore peace in areas affected by communal clashes“. Obeji added.
He expressed confidence that the Governor’s gesture to workers in the State by salary increments as well as his approval for massive employment would further showcase his good leadership qualities that made the people vote for him.
The chairman further appealed to the government to initiate programs that would attract foreign investors and called for the improved infrastructure of the facility, such as the provision of solar street lights to curb the activities of thieves in the company.
Correspondent gathered that since he assumed office, Linus Obeji has been able to ensure the provision of basic amenities in the rice mill facility such as a functional police station, construction of toilets, and provided infrastructures in the conference room among others.
The chairman has equally attracted the intervention of the State and Federal Governments in securing loans for its members through the Bank of Industry.
Speaking further, His Royal Highness, Eze Sunday Oketa who is a notable member of the rice mill company eulogized Governor Nwifuru’s quick response to the crisis.
“When the governor learned that there is a crisis in the rice mill, he quickly said nobody should remove the chairman, he warned that everyone should allow the young man to continue with his leadership because he has seen that he is doing the right thing.
“He looked at it that the young man is fighting corruption in the rice mill and he decided to come in and ensure that peace is restored“ he explained.
Eze Oketa commended the chairman on his fight against the use of bad scales for measurements and called on the people to support his leadership to ensure the smooth operation of the rice mill company for both state and visiting customers across the country.
