Polycarp Sola – Abakaliki
The chairman of the Abakaliki rice mill industry, Hon. Obeji Linus, has extolled Governor Francis Nwifuru on allowing the people’s choice to prevail over the selection of traditional rulers of the newly created autonomous communities in the Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
Recall that four communities, Ndubia, Nchoko, Ndiechi, and Iphuigwe, were made autonomous, being carved out of the Igbeagu autonomous community by the current administration, which received a wide applause.
Eye witness correspondent reports that Governor Nwifuru, while receiving the community members on Christmas and New Year homage at his country home in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi local government area of the state, approved the selection of the people as their traditional rulers.
Those selected are HRH. Bon Nweze, for the Nchoko community; HRH. John Nwenyi, for the Ndubia community; HRH. Jonas Nwoba, for the Ndechi community; and HRH. Clement Eze, for the Iphuigwe community, respectively.
Hon. Obeji, while expressing gratitude to the Governor, applauded his democratic approach, which allowed the people to choose their leaders, saying it would engender peace and harmonious living and bring development to the people.
“The modalities through which these leaders emerged are credible, and we are very happy that our Golden Governor was able to spearhead their selection, based on the choice of the people.
“Because he allowed the people’s choice to prevail without imposing the leaders on us, allowing us to choose our leaders would engender peace and progress in the community, because the people’s choice prevails.
“I wish to express my gratitude to His Excellency, R. T. Hon. Builder Francis Obgnonna Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State, for not only giving us a new community but for giving us the people’s choice as traditional rulers. For giving us a community, we are thankful because it would engender rural development.” He stated.
