Eight thousand people drawn from the thirteen Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State have been empowered with three hundred thousand naira each.

This is part of Governor David Umahi’s second phase of 1.2 billion naira empowerment program towards improving livelihood in the State.

Governor Umahi had earlier, in September, empowered the first set of beneficiaries at the inauguration of newly elected Local Government chairmen in the State.

The Governor had also dished out the sum of 1.5 million naira each, to over two hundred persons working for the State Government at various levels.

About nine months back, we empowered over 200 people with the sum of 1.5 million naira, especially our protocol officers and those working in government house”. he said.

It reports that the empowerment exercise coincided with the 62nd independence anniversary of Nigeria as well as the 26th anniversary of the State.

It equally served as avenue for the Governor to give highlights of his various achievements in human and capital development within the past seven years of his administration.

Today, we have shared testimonies of how we have transformed the state through aggressive infrastructural and human capital development, with exemplary leadership values.

“Today, every Local Government has at least a minimum of 40 kilometers of concrete road on eight inches degrees and 20 kilometers of street lights from 6pm to 6am none stop”. Umahi added.

Umahi charged the beneficiaries to apply prudence while using the empowerment grants to attain the aims upon which it was given.

He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigeria’s independence anniversary and Ebonyi people for the 26th anniversary respectively.
