“720 personnel deployed for Eid el Kabir celebrations in Ebonyi,”—FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi has deployed 720 personnel for its Eid el Kabir celebrations in Ebonyi.

The FRSC Ebonyi Sector Commander, Uche Chukwurah made the disclosure in Abakaliki

Chukwurah said that the personnel who include regular, special marshals and road safety club members would be involved in a special patrol for the celebrations.

“We will also deploy one ambulance, 10 patrol vehicles and one tow truck for the patrol,”.

This special patrol will comprehensively guarantee safety on all roads in Ebonyi, in line with the mandate given by the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu.

“The corps marshal has directed all commanding officers to fully deploy staff for maximum visibility, prompt removal of obstructions and ease of movement on roads.

“The primary objective is to minimise road traffic crashes–fatalities and injuries,”.

She noted that the command would promptly respond to road traffic crash victims and engage in purposeful public enlightenment on road users.

“Aggressive enforcement will also be implemented including conduct of mobile court operations, to address various traffic offences.

“These offences include over speeding, dangerous driving and overtaking, route violation, road obstructions, use of phones while driving, overloading, seatbelt violations, among others.

Chukwurah expressed optimism that road users in the state will cooperate with the corps, other security agencies, and volunteers during the celebrations.

“We urge all road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, ensure their vehicles are in good conditions and avoid all forms of distractions while driving,”.
