The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) had filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abakaliki against the State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC).
This came over the high cost of nomination forms set by the commission, prior to the just concluded Local Government elections in the State where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all positions.
However, the hearing of the matter scheduled for Monday at the Federal High Court did not hold as it declined to sketchy reasons given by the court registrar, and not verified at the time of filing this report.
Spokesperson for the council, Mr Oyibe Stanley, who is also the State Chairman of the Young Progressive Party, (YPP) said the council was informed by the court registrar that the sitting would not hold until further notice communicated to them.
“We came to court today in respect to the matter we have with EBSIEC but unfortunately court did not seat, the reason why the court did not seat we don’t know,
“The registrar said he would communicate us when the court will seat, and on that note, all political parties in the State are still standing on thier position that what is wrong is wrong,
“it is time we get things right in Ebonyi State, we are intact, no one resign among us, our aim is to add value to democracy, to build a new governance where all parties are carried along, we are waiting for court directives, when they call us we will come.” Oyibe said.
The Council had earlier appealed to the electoral body to consider the plight of it’s members who could not afford to pay the sum of 1 million naira for chairmanship form as well as 200 thousand naira for councilorship form respectively, which was not considered by EBSIEC and consequently led to boycott of the State Local Government elections by it’s members.
